The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Temple University held its first night of ‘Meet the Owls’ sessions Wednesday night.

Nearly 100 candidates came to the initial group interview for a chance at their own red polo and an opportunity to be named one of Temple’s next Owl Ambassadors.

Each applicant introduced themselves to the group of future Owls and current tour guides, before teaming up for a short group skit focused around life as a student at Temple.

From here, selected candidates are invited back for a personal interview. The final step in the selection process allows applicants to show their skills at one of the university’s admitted student events.

A second ‘Meet the Owls’ session is scheduled for Friday night at the Welcome Center on Main Campus.

Then, your dream is right through these doors!

Undergraduate Admissions at Temple University has officially kicked off their 2010-2011 recruitment season. So here’s the details, if you’re interested.

The only way to apply for the “Owl Ambassador” position is through TUPortal under “Student Jobs at Temple.” Once you’re there, look for “req#: TUS-5734.” Fill out the app and hit submit! You have until January 21, 2011 to apply for a position.

So what do Owl Ambassadors do? So nice of you to ask!

As a tour guide, you can expect to serve on the front lines of the university. We provide a unique campus tour to thousands of prospective students and their families every year; also, welcoming them for weekend programs like Open Houses and Experience Temple Days. And yes, there is some clerical work and serving as the welcoming committee when guests arrive in our two offices.

Owl Ambassadors must be outgoing and personable, responsible and punctual, charismatic and involved on campus, and above all else, passionate about Temple University. We’ll also look for folks who have stellar public speaking skills, the ability to work well with others and possess a positive attitude.

What’s next?

To wet your tour guide appetite, here’s a quick overview of the hiring process. Every applicant gets invited to “Meet the Owls,” a group interview session. From these sessions, we will invite the best candidates back for a single presentation and interview. If you survive the gauntlet (just teasing), our team will invite you back to help out with an Experience Temple Day in February. By March 3rd, you’ll know if we’d like you to join our nest of Owl Ambassadors.
